Roy Walter Schubert

July 17, 1921 — June 15, 2020

Roy Walter Schubert, 98, of California, passed away Monday, June 15, 2020, at Capital Region Medical Center surrounded by his family.

He was born July 17, 1921, in Lohman, Missouri, the son of the late Oscar Henry and Pauline (Rockelman) Schubert.

Roy was united in marriage on August 2, 1985, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Eldon to Dorothy Crader Baker who preceded him in death on June 21, 1998.

He worked for Lockheed Martin Aeronautics and later for North American Aircraft Company. He retired from the United States Postal Service after 28 years of service as a rural mail carrier. Recently, Roy was presented with the 60-Year National Rural Letter Carrier’s Association Membership Award. His greatest love of work was on the family farm.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church where he served on the church council for many years. He enjoyed his volunteer work with Meals-On-Wheels and other charities, and enjoyed to travel.

Survivors include one niece, Judy (Gary) Bangert, Jefferson City; two nephews, Steve (Pam) Goldammer, Kansas City; David (Susan) Goldammer, Salina, KS; several great nieces and great nephews; numerous cousins, and other extended family members; and Dorothy’s daughter, Peggy (Edward) Coleman.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Dorothy Schubert; and a sister and brother-in-law, Rosemary and Tommy Goldammer.

Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Friday, June 19, 2020, at Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Homes in Russellville.

Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Russellville with Pastor Ed Merckel officiating.

Burial will be in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to Trinity Lutheran Church and Trinity Lutheran Cemetery.

The general public is welcome to attend the services while following social distancing guidelines.

Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Home in Russellville is in charge of the arrangements.
