Roy Thomas Hardin

Roy Thomas Hardin, 86, of Russellville, passed away Saturday, February 24, 2018, at his home surrounded by family.

He was born May 25, 1931 near Guntersville, Alabama on Bishop Mountain, the son of the late Buford F. and Laura (West) Hardin.

He was united in marriage on July 10, 1950, in Detroit, Michigan, to Billie Marie Moore who preceded him in death on October 27, 2013.

Roy worked for Chrysler in Detroit before returning to Alabama to work for Redstone Arsenal. He eventually moved to St. Clair, Mo to work for Chrysler in Fenton, Missouri. Over his many years with Chrysler, he worked at various positions before retiring as a body repairman in 1986. In 2002, they moved to Russellville to be closer to family.

He was a faithful member of the Church of Christ in St. Clair, Missouri where he worshiped for over 30 years. After moving to Russellville in 2002 he joined the Fairgrounds Road Church of Christ in Jefferson City where he remained a faithful member.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and carving canes as well as working in his basement shop, building and repairing almost anything. His greatest enjoyment was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. They were his pride and joy.

Survivors include three daughters, Sheryl (Bryan) Gardner, Houston, TX; DeAnn (Roger) Martin, Jefferson City; DiAnn (Junior) Gilmore, Russellville; eight grandchildren, Lezli Jones, Talena (Rob) Floyd, Laura (Jay) Marshall, Dalton Tambke, Denver Tambke, Caleb (Jessica) Gilmore, Micayla Gilmore, Lydia Gilmore; four great-grandsons; and four brothers, James Hardin, Oregon; Lee (Gwen) Hardin, Florida; Donald Hardin, Alabama; and Johnnie Hardin, Alabama.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, one son, Thomas DeWayne Hardin; and three brothers, Ray Hardin, Kenneth Hardin, and Ernest Hardin.

Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, February 28, 2018, at Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Homes in Russellville.

Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Thursday, March 1, 2018, at Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Homes in Russellville with Carey Terry officiating.

Burial will be in Enloe Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to Little Prairie Bible Camp, 13616 County Road 2250, St. James, Missouri 65559; or to the Stained Glass Theater, 830 East High Street, Jefferson City, Missouri 65101.
