Robert Walter Sullens, 92, of rural Jefferson City, passed away Monday, June 29, 2020, at his residence.
He was born May 17, 1928, in Cole County, Missouri, the son of the late George Ira and Myrtle (Scruggs) Sullens.
Robert served his country in the United States Army.
He was united in marriage on December 14, 1952, in Jefferson City, to Clara Victoria Jungmeyer who preceded him in death on November 12, 2003.
Robert worked for International Shoe Factory, Lohman Milling as a truck driver, and was a farmer. He was the caretaker for three cemeteries around the Jefferson City area including Pleasant Hill Cemetery and Johnston Cemetery.
He enjoyed cutting grass and was meticulous in his lawn mowing skills. His greatest enjoyment was his family, especially his grandchildren.
Survivors include two children, June Sullens, Jefferson City; Robert (Lila) Sullens, Lohman; and two grandchildren, Nicole (Travis) Hoskins and Shawna (Aaron) Bruemmer.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; his daughter, Barbara Gonzagowski; and a sister, Mary Frances Sullens.
Visitation will be 10-11 a.m. Monday, July 6, 2020, at Scrivner-Morrow Funeral Homes in Russellville with services to follow at 11 a.m. with Pastor Sam Powell officiating.
Burial with military honors will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to the Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
