Edna Marie Goldammer

October 24, 1934 — February 17, 2018

Edna Marie Goldammer, 83, of Lohman, passed away unexpectedly during the afternoon of Saturday, February 17, 2018, at her residence.

She was born October 24, 1934, on the Strobel family farm near Lohman, Missouri, the daughter of the late Herman Paul and Elizabeth Barbara (Heinrich) Strobel.

n April 10, 1949, she was confirmed as a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Russellville. Her confirmation passage was 1 Thessalonians 4:1-2, “Finally, brothers and sisters, we ask and urge you in the Lord Jesus that, as you learned from us how you ought to live and to please God (as, in fact, you are doing), you should do so more and more. For you know what instructions we gave you through the Lord Jesus.”

Edna graduated from Russellville High School in May 1952.

She was united in marriage on August 10, 1952, at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, to Roy Andrew Goldammer who preceded her in death on September 4, 1996.

Roy moved Edna to Grant County, in the heart of Nebraska Sandhills, in August 1952. Roy was the foreman of Snyder Land & Cattle Company and Edna became the ranch cook. Edna cooked three meals a day for 5 to 20 ranch hands during the year. In May 1968, Edna and Roy moved to their ranch in the Lohman area.

She worked as the Librarian for Cole R-1 public school at Russellville. She later worked for Singer Sewing Company in Jefferson City teaching sewing classes. In 1977, she began working for the Missouri Department of Revenue as a clerk in the Division of Motor Vehicle and Driver’s License. Edna retired on October 1, 2002 after many years serving as the supervisor of the Division of Motor Vehicle. For decades, when the weekends rolled around, Edna was the cashier for Don Fahrni and Jim Tambke at local farm and estate auctions.

Edna was a loving and caring wife. She adored her son and daughter. She was a great mentor to her co-workers at the Department of Revenue. As a member of her church, she participated in various women’s groups, was President of the Church Council, and currently was on the Music and Worship Committee.

During her life on their ranch, Edna loved to sew, she was an avid gardener, and she enjoyed working in her yard. After she retired from her “town job” she was Tammy’s right-hand helper and rock…always chipping in to help with the cattle and cowdogs.

Survivors include two children, Tammy Jane Goldammer, Lohman; Roy Alan Goldammer, Sneads Ferry, NC; and three siblings, Frances Jean (Bill) Jasper, Millington, TN; Herbert Strobel, Lohman; and Robert “Bob” Strobel, Russellville.

Edna was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; five sisters, Meleda Principato, Virginia Crocker, Loretta Roark, Nelda Surface, Irene Campbell; and two brothers, Lawrence Strobel and infant brother Oswald Herman Strobel.
