Audrey May Scheperle

August 26, 1933 — January 2, 2017

Audrey May Scheperle, age 83, of Russellville, passed away Monday, January 2, 2017, at St. Joseph's Home in Jefferson City.

She was born August 26, 1933, in St. Louis, a daughter of Stephen and Christina Ritter Jannings.

While visiting relatives in the Russellville and Lohman communities that Audrey met a young man named Oliver Scheperle. Their courtship led to them being united in marriage on October 22, 1950, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Lohman. Oliver preceded her in death November 8, 2009.

She was a homemaker, busy raising her three children and helping on the family farm. Audrey worked as a waitress and cook at the Stringtown Station and later Chesebrough Ponds, now Unilever until retirement.

Audrey was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church-Stringtown.

She enjoyed working in her flower and vegetable gardens, going to auctions, knitting afghans and piecing and hand quilting quilts. Until her family grew to large, she and Oliver hosted all of the family events, cooking and making sure everyone was taken care of. The family traveled yearly on two week vacations, later Audrey and Oliver continued to travel and especially liked to travel to Branson and the Old Threshers in Iowa. In later years she enjoyed going out to eat with her children.

Survivors include three children, Rolonda Schulte, Bradley (Rose) Scheperle, Lohman and Gregory (Cathy) Scheperle, of Russellville; one brother, Stephen Jannings of Bourbon; a brother-in-law, Arnold Scheperle and wife Wanda of St. Louis; two sisters-in-law, Ethel Heidbreder of Lohman and Lola Crum of Jefferson City; four grandchildren, Jason Schulte, Christy (Doug Foster) Haas, Tracy (Jeremy Wadley) Scheperle, and Kevin (Jenna) Scheperle, four step grandchildren, Justin (Cheyenne) Hoellering, Jason (Elizabeth) Hoellering, Amy (Jon) Reed, and Angela (Chancelor) Crabtree, four great grandchildren, seven step great grandchildren, along with several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to her husband, Audrey was preceded in death by her parents, a step father, August Hubbard, and a half sister, Dorothy Jannings.

Funeral services will be 12:00 noon, Saturday, January 7, at St. John's Lutheran Church-Stringtown with Pastor Jacob Mueller officiating.

Interment will be in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery-Stringtown.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon on Saturday at the church.

Memorial contributions are suggested to St. John's Lutheran Cemetery-Stringtown or the charity of the donor's choice.
