Anthony Robert Bertucci

Anthony Robert Bertucci, 20, of Russellville, passed away Wednesday, September 4, 2019, at University Hospital in Columbia as a result of an automobile accident.

He was born November 21, 1998, in Jefferson City, the son of Robert Lee Bertucci and Crystal Sue Porter-Bertucci.

Anthony was a 2017 graduate of Russellville High School where he was involved and recognized in many sports and organizations. His interests and talents were abundant and varied. He participated in the school band, Boy Scout organization, and in sports including baseball, basketball, and football over the years. His beloved athletic endeavor was his long participation in Cross Country and Track and Field. His participation in different sports garnered him many merits in competition and many lifelong friendships. If only skateboarding was a recognized sport at the school, he most definitely would have excelled. Following graduation, he attended State Tech in Linn.

Anthony worked with his father at VB Construction and for FDF Construction focusing on concrete projects.

Music was, however, Anthony’s greatest known passion in life. He began in middle school playing trombone and eventually found his love of the bass and rock and roll. At age 13, Anthony would form and become a member of Blackwater Band with several close friends serving as bass player and lending distinctive and unforgettable vocals. Blackwater would become Old Soul Savage and gained incredible attention and admiration over the years from all over. They played countless venues around Mid-Missouri and were in increasing demand due to their unbelievable energy, sound, and personalities. Old Soul Savage, the music, and the relationships he developed as a result took Anthony’s highest regard in career, friendship, and served as the outlet of his artistic and emotional expression. He played a legendary piece in the band and in the lives of his band members as an artist and as friend.

Anthony’s electric and endearing personality is also legendary. To know Anthony was certainly to love Anthony. He was kind to all, eager, and vibrant. Anthony was born wide-eyed and relentlessly hungry to live life freely, daringly, and unashamed. He was driven in his passions and left many remarkable achievements with his talents. Anthony was also funny, eccentric, and lovably unpredictable. But above all things, he was thoughtful, attentive, and loving to everything and everyone. Anthony was appreciative of life and all within. He was a loving friend, nephew, cousin, brother and son.

Known by several names including “Tony”, “Mojo”, “Uncle Amps”, and “Poshum”, he was loved by all. His immeasurable relationships, whether musical, spiritual, or simple, were unique to each individual person he met and undeniably unforgettable.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Russellville.

Survivors include his father, Robert “Bobby” Bertucci (Lori Harris), Russellville; his mother, Crystal Bertucci, Russellville; his brother, Brandon Bertucci (Ejrin Hodzic), St. Louis; paternal grandparents, Mike and Juanita Bertucci, Russellville; eight aunts and uncles, Susie (Stan) Henson, Russellville; Juanita Tims, California; Jimmy Porter, Columbia; Gary (Cheryl) Porter, High Point; Bennie (Donna) Porter, High Point; Johnny (Nancy) Porter, High Point; Kathy (Randy) Carpenter, Versailles; Cindy (John) Hill, Latham; many cousins and other extended family members; two life-long friends, Kayne and Addie Kirchner; as well as countless other friends old and new.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Robert and Winifred “Winnie” Porter; one aunt, Delores Hawkins; and three uncles, Stanly Porter, Bob Tims, and Freddie Hawkins.

Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, September 11, 2019, at Russellville High School Gymnasium.

Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Thursday, September 12, 2019, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Russellville with Pastor Ed Merckel officiating.

Burial will be in High Point Cemetery.

Memorials are suggested to the Russellville Track and Field Program.
